Dr. Gregory Yunov

Most people would probably not be very eager to watch a tooth extraction in real-time, but after seeing exactly that at age 17, Dr. Gregory Yunov was fascinated! He was surprised by the actual size of the tooth, and paid special attention to how the patient went from being afraid and in pain to completely relieved. This made a strong impression on him, and today, he continues to look forward to helping patients feel better.

Dr. Yunov earned his bachelor’s degree from Queens College, City University of New York, and went on to achieve his dental doctorate from the Columbia University College of Dental Medicine. That didn’t put a stop to his education, though! It was only after another six years of oral and maxillofacial surgery residency that Dr. Yunov would finally open up his own private dental practice. That said, he considers himself a lifelong learner and passionately pursues continuing education to expand and sharpen his skills.

When he’s not treating patients at the office, Dr. Yunov likes to spend quality time with his wife – an orthodontist – and their daughters. You can also find him riding his bike, reading, handing out with friends, or learning about emerging technology.

Dr. Yunov is affiliated with the following professional organizations:

Dr Yusupov is a very efficient and caring professional... Not only did I have an almost painless molar extraction and implant surgery with him, he also went above and beyond his responsibilities to help me correct the failure of another doctor. He is deserving of the highest accolades!!!

How Can We Help You?

Do you have damaged teeth requiring extraction or missing teeth you’d like to replace with dental implants? Our team near Long Island provides various complex and surgical services to help improve your quality of life by enhancing your dental condition. Continue reading below to learn more about the different procedures we offer to boost your oral health or reconstruct your smile.

Dental Implants

Many experts consider these restorations the ideal way to replace lost teeth because they include a titanium rod embedded directly into your jawbone, which provides added strength and stability over alternatives like dentures or dental bridges. Our oral surgeons can complete each step of the process in the office, including both the placement and the restoration of your implant. After your jawbone fuses with the support pole, these are essentially a permanent part of your smile, making them an excellent long-term solution.

Wisdom Teeth Extractions

These third molars arrive years after your other adult teeth have already erupted, usually between 17 and 25 years old. Although they may have served a purpose in human evolution, today they are considered a vestigial feature because they’re no longer required for survival. Furthermore, they often cause issues like impaction, infection, overcrowding, and persistent discomfort, so we often recommend removing them before they become problematic. Whether you need a simple or surgical extraction, our team near Long Island has specialized training and state-of-the-art technology to assist.

Bone Grafting

Your jawbone provides a firm foundation to anchor your natural teeth in place, but it unfortunately begins to thin when teeth go missing. If it’s lost too much density, your dental implant is more likely to fail. Thankfully, in many cases, we can provide bone grafting procedures to bulk it up enough to proceed with your treatment.

Maxillofacial Surgery

If you suffer from bruxism or TMJ disorders that have stiffened or locked your jaw or sustained any physical trauma that harmed your jaw, our experts can provide various surgical treatments to alleviate any associated aches and restore more normal functionality. We can free you from discomfort and frustration if you need to address chronic jaw pain, remove benign tumors inside the oral cavity or throat, or have salivary or thyroid gland concerns.

IV Anesthesia/Sedation

It’s natural to feel anxious about an upcoming oral surgery, especially if you’re worried it will hurt. We understand that many patients are concerned and are here to set your mind at ease. Before starting your procedure, we’ll numb the surgical site with a local anesthetic to prevent the nerves in your teeth, gums, and jaw from sending pain signals to your brain. We’re also licensed to offer IV anesthesia that is injected via an intravenous catheter. We’ll closely monitor your stats to ensure they remain within healthy ranges, and you won’t remember the details of your procedure after the fact.

FAQs

How do I find the best place to undergo oral surgery?

It’s natural to feel anxious about major oral procedures, like getting dental implants or undergoing a bone graft, and finding a provider you can trust can make a world of difference. If you’re struggling to find the right surgeon, you might have better luck if you take some time to write down your main priorities first.

For instance, do you have a specific procedure, like a sinus lift, you anticipate needing? You’ll need to find someone who offers it. Or perhaps you’re seeking someone who’s in-network with your insurance policy. Identifying your needs can help you customize your search to find exactly what you’re looking for.

How much does it cost to get a tooth pulled in Roslyn without insurance?

If you have a severe or persistent toothache or know that you have a damaged or decayed tooth requiring attention, you might require an extraction. The last thing you want to have to worry about when you’re hurting is whether you can afford to fix the problem, leading many patients to inquire what they might expect to pay for this service before they arrive at our office.

Typically, you can expect to pay anywhere from $75 to $500 for your procedure in Roslyn, though it can be more depending on your circumstances. For example, surgical extractions tend to take longer and often involve more anesthesia or sedation, which can drive up the rate.

What level of education is required to become a dental surgeon?

It’s only natural to want to find the most qualified surgeons to perform your procedure, and though all dentists are incredibly skilled, they don’t all have the same education or hands-on experience.

After they’ve earned a bachelor’s degree, all dentists must achieve either a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or a Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from one of the 70+ institutions that are accredited by the American Dental Association (ADA). Then, they typically undergo additional residencies, certifications, or other training to focus on specialty topics, including oral surgery.

At our office in Roslyn, Dr. Yusupov graduated with his DDS from the NYU College of Dentistry and graduated in the top 10% of his class before completing his oral and maxillofacial surgical residency at the SUNY Downstate Health Science Center/Kings County Hospital Center in Brooklyn.

Dr. Yunov is equally as accomplished and earned his dental doctorate from the Columbia University College of Dnetal Medicine then spent six years completing an oral and maxillofacial residency program.

What do you do if you can’t afford oral surgery?

Oral surgery is unique in that it can be considered both a dental and a medical procedure, meaning some treatments might fall under one type while others are covered by the other. If you’re unsure whether the necessary treatment is included in any of your policies, please don’t hesitate to ask for help. Our friendly office staff is familiar with many different providers and can help you maximize your available benefits.

If you’re uninsured, you can apply for a flexible financial plan through CareCredit, which allows you to divide your final invoice into more manageable installments over a designated period if your application is approved.
